Gattaca Movie Review - DVD - Sci-Fi - Buy Movies - Rent Movies
If Sci Fi isn't your bag you need to know there are no aliens, no monsters and no computer generated graphics. What you get instead is lavish retro-futuristic styling which sets the mood for the inhumane and divided world symbolised by Gattaca Corporation. Vincent (Ethan Hawke) has a lifelong dream to travel into space but because he was born naturally with a congenital heart condition and myopia in a world where DNA is far more important than race or religion he's got no chance. By assuming the identity of Jerome (Jude Law), who was crippled in an accident, Vincent uses Jerome's blood, skin, hair and urine to pass DNA tests and he quickly rises through the ranks to be one of Gattaca's finest trainees. A murder just a few days before the launch and Vincent's involvement with Uma Thurman turns the drama into a crisis and the tension builds right through to the final scene. With excellent performances all round (Uma Thurman's ice cool chic is a great look) this is a movie you really can unwind and revel in.
