End of Days Movie Review - Buy Movies - Rent MoviesArnie is the Terminator, everything else he's ever made is pants. End of Days is an attempt to combine action and supernatural horror which, given that he's tried and failed at everything else, had to be worth a try. It's the turn of the millennium and Satan is in town to claim his bride to bear the antichrist and bring about the end of days but for reasons which I've forgotten already (it's not important) security guard Jericho (Arnold Schwarzenegger) plans to stop him and for the next couple of hours hell raising action ensues and on that level it was enjoyable.
The vatican is also on the case playing good preist, bad preist. They're generally ineffective doing priesty type stuff until Arnie cracks open his armoury and gives Satan (Gabriel Byrne) something more down to earth to contend with. I'd still back Satan for a knockout in the first round but since the world didn't end on the turn of the millennium you can guess the ending.
Well produced escapism by Peter Hyams, who produced Timecop back in 1994, plenty of action, a gratuitous sex scene, and a smattering of blood and gore. It's certainly worth a watch but not more than once so buying the DVD edition would be overkill.
At over two hours long they could have done away with the sex scene then I could have watched and enjoyed it with my son. As it was I watched it with my missus and missed the start of Match of the Day, 'nuff said!
